PS4 Clan System

I remember the PS2 days when you had to sign up with your username for each online title you wanted to play. When the PS3 came out they addressed that issue with a universal username for all games called the PSN (Playstation Network Name). So now adding friends, sending messages and more importantly making sure no one steals your username when your late getting that latest greatest Playstation game has been fixed.

I think Playstation should take this one step more and make a clan system in the same manner. It would be similar to the friends list but for clan members. The leader of the clan can assign different roles and allow users access to adding more members, changing settings and anything else regarding the clan. Each clan should be able to have a clan page or screen. The leader could add info about the clan, a logo to add a customized expereince. Additional features like a simple clan message board, calendars with matches would also be a nice features. Although not common now, games devolpoers would include a proper clan system with leaderboards, clan matches, ect similar to a system like Killzone 2 & 3.

The only real issue I can see with this system is if you play with a clan on one game and not on another. I think it is fair to say that you should be able to create one clan per PSN and join up to 2 more. This would cover more then enough games for each clan. For example I play 90% of my PS3 games with the same group of guys, just the odd game here or there I don’t and play with another group of people.

I think this whole clan system would be great and would take gaming to the next level.
PS1 – No online
PS2 – Online but new registration for usernames & clans for each game
PS3 – Online with one username for all games, however you have to create a new clan for each game
PS4 – Make your username & your clan, never worry again
